Why the Sweet Olive Collection?

Not everyone can get to Sweet Olive Farm in Winterville, GA, so we brought the farm to the city with our exhibit at Lotta Mae’s in Athens, GA.

For this collection, I was inspired by the rescue farm animals at Sweet Olive Sanctuary. I dreamed of creating a series that replicated what it’s like to be on the farm. There’s lots of movement, colors, sights, and species. Farm animals don’t sit still long, so with the help of professional photographer Cassie Wright I was able capture their liveliness and vivacity.

These are animals who are getting a second chance, so it was equally important to capture their resilient spirits. Once neglected, forgotten, or abandoned, this is their moment in the spotlight. I have a deep connection to farmland and to animals. This series brings all that together.
